Ready, Stradey, Cook: Llanelli's best home cook wanted
Could you take the taste test for charity at the Stradey Park Hotel?March 2, 2007
Think you cook the best roast in Five Roads? The best curry in Cross Hands? Or the best pasta in Pembrey? Well, thanks to the Stradey Park Hotel, one talented reader will get the opportunity to put their culinary skills to the test against the best in the business, all in the name of local charity.
On April 3rd, the Stradey Park Hotel is hosting a special evening to raise funds for Ty Bryngwyn Hospice. 'Ready, Stradey, Cook' will see a host of culinary exhibitions and cooking challenges take place, with a place on the podium up for grabs to a deserving Star reader.
Ray Gravell is set to assume the Ainsley Harriot compere role as S4C celebrity chefs Nerys Howell and Sioned Mair cook up a storm with ingredients chosen for them by famous and not-so-famous locals.
Llanelli Star editor Robert Lloyd is set to cause a stir in the kitchen, while S4C stars Nerys and Sioned will be hoping not to get their just desserts as they face a challenge from a chef from the hotel's newly refurbished Brazz.
Angela Saunders, Director at the Stradey Park Hotel said:
"Every year, we like to support a local charity and thought 'Ready, Stradey, Cook' would be a fun way to raise funds for Ty Bryngwyn. We like to involve the local community as much as possible in our efforts and would like to challenge all experienced and budding cooks in the area to get in touch and tell the Star why they should get a chance to cook against a celeb chef."
"We'd urge everyone to book tickets to 'Ready, Stradey, Cook' to raise as much money as we can for the hospice."
Visitors to the event will get the chance to sample local produce from exhibiting companies including Kid Me Not, producer of Welsh Goat's Fudge, and a chocolate fountain from the Welsh Chocolate Fountain Company. Homemade cakes will be available. Wine and canapés will be served upon arrival.
If you think you've got what it takes to challenge our celebrity chefs at 'Ready, Stradey, Cook', or would like to nominate someone, please write to the Llanelli Star at the usual address telling us why you should take to the stage. Closing date for nominations is Friday 23rd March 2007.
Tickets priced at £10 and include wine and canapés on arrival, with all proceeds going to Llanelli Hospice Ty Bryngwyn Hospice. To book your place, please call the Stradey Park Hotel on 01554 758171.
